How does truck routing work?
You enter your vehicle's height, weight, width and length in the settings. The sat nav then calculates routes that avoid roads with restrictions your vehicle can't safely pass — including low bridges, weight-restricted roads and hazardous tunnels.
Is it legal to use in an HGV?
Yes. The device is CE certified and designed for professional use. It is mounted on the windscreen and powered via the cigarette lighter — fully compliant with UK driving regulations.
Does it need a SIM card or internet?
No SIM or internet required for navigation. Maps are pre-loaded on the device. Internet is only needed to download map updates via Wi-Fi (which you do at home — not on the road).
Can I use it for my car as well?
Yes. Simply switch to Car mode in the settings and it routes like a standard sat nav, ignoring truck-specific restrictions.
How is this different from Google Maps on my phone?
Google Maps does not support HGV vehicle profiles or bridge/weight restrictions. For professional truck driving, a dedicated sat nav is the only reliable option.
